I do follow 3Com so I'm just offering this as a possibility, but did they say they were divesting 100% or some smaller percentage? If they IPO a 20% interest and the IPO takes off, then they have successfully unlocked the Palm units value. Also a product like the Palm attracts tremendous competition. To stay ahead a company needs top employees - and top employees want stock options with the potential to sizzle. Does 3Coms stock offer that? Might the stock of the Palm spinoff?
