I reviewed this "change in the playing field" with thread here already. It was met with disbelief, so-what, and Juniper can do that too attitudes.

I can tell you that JNPR is safe right now since showing high revenue growth will be easy given low revenue numbers. I know they sandbagged last quarter...so this pup might have legs for 2 maybe even 3 quarters, but at some point in time their going to hit a wall.. and I wouldn't want to be holding $200/share stock when that happens. ;)

regarding optics, yes there is opportunity there as new segments are emerging like Sycamore's product which basically intelligently sets up optics to then be switched/routed.

optics and routing are far from integration. the world needs software and asic's right now or data won't get processed and sent to the right destination. software can't process light (optics) and light (optics) can't route the web. The key is building market share in the new networks being built and then being the consolidator and the one that executes in bringing innovative products to market. Maybe Juniper does this and maybe it doesn't. So far though, its looking good.
