OK, guys, just trying to get a rise out of the technical loyalists here! I even learned something. Thanks! <VBG>

I had hoped years ago (Mac II era) that the Mac would take off for engineering work. I was one of the first to use a Mac II in doing CAD work (but very limited software in its capabilities) and contacted all the CAD software vendors at that time to drum up support for the platform. They were all very interested because the PC at the time couldn't touch a Mac II and it really looked like support was on the way! Guess what? It didn't happen and one by one the CAD guys dropped out. What was left in electronics CAD or EDA was a couple of el cheapo CAD tools that were (and still are) for the most part completely useless. I also contacted Apple years ago to get rid of the stupid (and quite outdated) one button mouse because the "powerfull" CAD software on Unix and PC platform was using three button mice, which is by far much more productive than a one button mouse. They never listened. Also many years ago I asked them for an OS that I could multitask CAD applications with, no luck here either. I'll tell you this -- there is no doubt about the superiority of RISC based processing and I have always admired Apples hardware. I have just never been able to figure out why for all these years they put a Ferrari engine in a Grand Am?

So I guess your right in that we are talking about the "average" consumer. So sad that all that "power" can't be put to some good use like designing advanced electronic systems for computers, airplanes, rockets, PDA's, automobile electronics, on and on.....

Do you have a problem with the OS? What is it? What can the average consumer NOT do on the Mac OS that they can do on Windows. Hmmm?
