Condor, the store looks like a large toy store in a major shopping mall. It is cavernous and dark inside with many rows of showcases loaded with product. It is setup for serious high-volume Christmas shopping.

I think that the store used to be a restaurant since it is located at the end of the pier with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The windows are all blocked with showcases now; we wouldn't want our shoppers to be distracted, would we?

This store is quite out of character with all of the other 'tourist trinket' stores at Pier 39. The other stores tend to be small, airy, bright and fun to wander around in, explore and make impulse purchases. That is the way the Disney Store is setup next door. One look inside this cavern will scare many people away I fear.

This store belongs in Stonestown or the Sun Valley Mall or better yet down in a Silicon Valley shopping mall where a lot of the big spenders are. Why didn't they open it there?

I live in Oakland across the bay. I seldom visit Pier 39 but I do have a soft spot for it in my heart since I met my wife there 20 years ago at the Eagle Cafe while she was on vacation. I married a tourist.

Long and looking for a way out.
