Ameritech wireless is to be divested, I was under the impression this was to satisfy antitrust laws.
Just signed up with Sprint left Ameritech (analog) WOW what a difference

That would be my guess... CellOne is huge, abandoning it would be going backwards unless they had another deal set up. Will be interesting to see who picks up the Chicago CDMA system... that's got to me a nice little plum even if it needs work.

If I remember correctly, SBC was going to ditch the Ameritech CDMA system as they are part of CellularOne, who also has a Chicago system. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Regardless, the CDMA system was to be the one that was let go in the merger.

Not postive but I thought that GTE was going to buy the portions of Ameritech's system that they needed to divest (ie Chicago).
