I do not know if this was already posted, but it explains possibly why CS fell ....

Cabletron Systems (CS: news, msgs) shares dropped 1 11/16 to 17 7/16 after the networking-product maker canceled an agreement, previously valued at $300 million, to provide Compaq with network components. Cabletron, however, posted better-than-expected second-quarter earnings of $12.5 million, or 7 cents a share, on sales of $356.6 million. Analysts surveyed by First Call were looking for a profit of 6 cents a share.
