I, too have stumbled across an ancient post (1997)written by a true visionary who tells the Dell story as it still is today 131,000
posts later(G)
(Its still the same old story, but the buy-back went to 1 bil. and Web sales went to 30 mil/day))

Striker, let me give it a shot. Dell continue to grow at > 3 times the industry average, it is entering the $15 billion work station business ( which is primarily a direct sales channel),
it is buying back a total of 100 million shares (53.6 million repurchased through the last earnings release), Dell has the most efficient operation with the least amount of inventory as is able to pass component price cuts onto the consumer faster than anyone
else and still keep some of the cut for an enhanced bottom line and it has consistently dominated the top rankings in most PC categories on a price/performance basis. The PC business is not just a commodity business. Consumers want to know that they are
getting the best performance for the price. I hope this helps.

>> leader who has BIG plans for DELL employees, customers and shareholders.<<

Its getting to the point that talking about "Big" plans should cease and for DELL management to implement said plans or DELL stock risks continuing to implode as it has for the past 8 months.Granted it looked to be on an uptrend of late but now seems to have lost its legs.A post earlier today by a person whom I have great respect for, suggested DELL in the low 40's soon.Given events recently it's hard to argue with that call.
One final thought,to those that give Michael Dell credit for the financial gains they have realized from the ownership of this stock, your dead wrong.Michael Dell created the opportunity, you are the ones through your initiative and insight that capitalized on that opportunity and now reap your just rewards. The credit goes to you.
This is my final post on this thread as I see other issues that I feel may be more lucrative at this point in time.
Good luck to all
Ed Forrest

Scott,
Hi!!!
RE: I also read MSD's book and feel that he is a visionary leader who has BIG plans for DELL employees, customers and shareholders.

Nice post...Yes, the B2B potential revenue growth is something that may put DELL's earnings in orbit...They are currently only at phase #1.. Anxiously awaiting the other phases..."corporations are finding that we aren't only better we're a heck of a lot cheaper"...If you listened to DELLCONNECT you could almost hear the corporate heads drooling at the savings...
:o)

Best, Kemble
