zsteve/all: I am perplexed by the P/E for the Nasdaq. Looking at their site nasdaq-amex.com it shows the average P/E at 145.3, but that doesn't jibe with the average market value divided by the average net income. The table also shows "total" P/E as N/A, and I don't understand why one can't take total market value divided by total net income to come to 89.4. I must be missing something, and I'd appreciate it if someone will attempt to un-fog my brain.

zs, We are way beyond the peak of Japanese bubble valuations on Nasdaq stocks. However, that is not really fair. Most of the Japanese cos. actually had earnings. <g>
