It's EXBTV.com - and HD's comments about making commentaries (just before he mentioned EXBTV, iNEXTV, and Ampex) now makes sense to me. I conclude he will be making short (5-minute is typical) commentaries each week, easily presented in streaming format. I was glad to see Hugh so enthusiastic about this new opportunity - I anticipate a similar mention on 20/20 Friday. From the Yahoo AXC board - Hugh's New Venture discussed on Rose . by: happypassages (M/Philadelphia, PA) 21784 of 21785 It seemed as though Hugh wanted to talk about his new venture, but Rose was more interested in name-dropping--or getting Hugh to name-drop. Well, that wasn't surprising. People are fascinated by the famous, the extraordinary, and the unusual. Toward the end of the interview, Hugh talked about his recent work with ABC.com and ABC Radio. This was the break to discuss Ampex. He began by talking about the lost art of news commentary. One of things which he was most excited about was having the artistic freedom to do news commentary---with iNEXTV, a division of Ampex Corporation. ("Ampex?"--rose repeats) ..er, yes. Ampex. Hugh also mentioned EXBTV, indicating that he expected to begin there on October 27. It seemed as though Rose did not know who or what Ampex is or was. If he did, I would have expected him to nod affirmatively or mention something about the invention of videotaping, tape recorders, or the role of the company since the beginnings of broadcasting and the Internet. Since he didn't, Hugh didn't either. Nothing critical. Just a missed opportunity. But it does go to show you that although we take the brand name Ampex as synonymous with technical excellence--almost for granted--much of the public has no idea at all about Ampex. Hugh did seem emotional and somewhat saddened with the prospect of leaving the past behind him to begin anew (as anyone would after living such rich experiences), but he seemed genuinely optimistic about the future and his new role in that future. I suspect that there will be more opportunities soon for Hugh to talk about the future..... and iNEXTV, EXBTV, and Ampex..... "Ampex?" .... YES, AMPEX!
