Electromagnetics does not respond to the curvature of
objects in its path, so that a line of sight is always
a straight line, not the great circles of ocean navigation.
The only way to create a curved path is if the
permittivity and permeability coefficients of the medium
vary with space. This type of effect is used in the design
of waveguides.
