hi croc,

I just talked to my mom to get her recipe for apple butter.

Her'sa goes as follows:

4lbs. apples
4cups sugar
2tspn cinnimon
1/4tsp cloves

Cut apples, but don't skin or core them. add 2 cups of water and simmer until soft. run through a sive. Should come out with 2 qts. of apple pulp.

Add sugar and spices in sauce pan simmer until it rolls up on a spoon. form and cool.

It that close to what you do?

Sounds like a whole lot of sugar to me. I wonder if I could reduce that if the apples are really asweet, which they really aren't this year.

BTW, I been lurking on the canoeing thread from time to time, but alas have no recent stories to contribute. Raising little kids makes it tough to get out.

I could tell about my time sliding down about 100 feet in the Siera Madreas. Seemed to last a life time. I really thought another 20 feet and it was over the dliff for my. While I'm heading down, I catch a glimse of my friend with me(safely on a ledge) laughing his butt off.

Freaked me out, I thought he was goofing on me posiibbly dying. but it turned out there was a large flat(I couldn't see) that would and did catch me before The final drop to apple sauce<g>

A very memorable occasion, boubt I'll ever top the feelings running through my head during those few seconds.

BTW, he later became my best man at my last wedding. LOL!

p.s. The jade plant on my brick patio under a large sugar Maple didn't get zapped by the frost. but it will be time soon to bring the jungle into the studio for the winter.
