Preview of Destruction Derby 64

After squaring off against a pile of mediocre Nintendo 64 racers, I wasn't necessarily looking forward to playing yet another ho-hum driving game. Thankfully, that's not what I got when Destruction Derby 64 landed on my desk. Instead, it is my pleasure to review the best racer for the Nintendo 64 this year, even surpassing Star Wars: Episode I – Racer. The bottom line in DD64 is that you will have fun, hours of fun, bashing the competition into oblivion with two tons of steel.

This one sounds like a winner for THQ.

Review of WCW Mayhem

WCW Mayhem is the best PlayStation wrestler ever released in America… Period.

What's interesting is that the review overall isn't glowing. An interesting note is the last line:

Bottom Line: WCW Mayhem is undoubtedly the king of PlayStation wrestling titles... but if you own an N64, do yourself a favor and hold out for WWF Wrestlemania 2000. Trust me when I tell you, it'll be worth the wait…

And finally, Nuclear Strike 64 preview

Nuclear Strike 64

New Impressions as of 9/24/99

We've spent a few more hours with Nuclear Strike 64 and come away with a much better feel for the game than our initial look yielded. Immediately we were impressed with the controls, which seemed tighter than before. We now feel completely in control of the helicopter and were smashing the advancing forces of evil like armchair Airwolfs in no time. The camera hasn't been pulled back, which was a slight bummer, but because the control seems so much cleaner, we were willing to forgive the camera's selfish attention on the copter.
