Sprint PCS, Samsung Unveil
Dual-Band,CDMA Wireless Phone

KANSAS CITY -- Samsung Telecommunications America plans to
deliver wireless phones in the next year that use services from Sprint PCS
(PCS) in an agreement valued at up to $500 million.

In a press release Wednesday, Sprint PCS said the SCH-3500 phones
feature Samsung's SCH-dual-band/dual-mode wireless technology and
Sprint PCS's voice and data services, allowing users to use e-mail and
access the Internet.

The dual-band, code division multiple access phones, which Sprint PCS
plans to begin shipping this month, have a suggested retail price of $149,
the company said.

The phones also provide voice-activated dialing, voice mail, caller
identification and three-way calling capabilities.

Sprint PCS also signed a related $250 million wireless phone agreement
with Motorola Inc. (MOT) Wednesday.

Motorola Unveils Dual-Band CDMA
Wireless Phone

NEW ORLEANS -- Motorola Inc. (MOT) signed an agreement with
Sprint Corp.'s (PCS) PCS Group to deliver wireless Internet service using
new dual-band CDMA digital wireless phones.

In a press release Wednesday, Motorola said the deal is worth more than
$250 million.

Sprint will offer customers the Motorola dual-band CDMA digital phones,
which are Web-enabled and allow access to Sprint's completely digital
wireless network.

In a separate release, Motorola unveiled its digital ST7867W and
ST7860W phones, which are equipped with microbrowsers to provide
handheld Internet access.

The phones have CDMA digital data connectivity which provides up to
14.4 kbps data speed, wireless connection to e-mail, faxes and
documents.

Motorola also introduced its "clip-on" speaker-phone as an accessory to
its new digital phones.

The company also launched its dual-mode, dual-band TDMA wireless
phones, which can provide 110 minutes of talk time and 100 hours of
standby time.

The company introduced its tri-band digital phone through Omnipoint
Communications. The tri-band phone is capable of operating on GSM
900, 1800 and 1900 bands in Europe, Asia and the Americas, with
network subscriptions.

Motorola also introduced its "TalkAbout" products, which offer digital
wireless phones with options of pagers and two-way radios.

The CDMA and TDMA wireless phones and clip-on organizer are part of
the Timeport line.

Motorola also unveiled its CopperGold Transceiver, an ADSL single-chip
transceiver which the company claims provides cost, power and
board-space savings.

The transceiver is designed for use in router and set-top-box applications,
as well as digital subscriber line access multiplexer and line card
applications.
