Hi all,
I talked to Diana at IR today and have the following to report. I am paraphrasing, and hope I am accurate in reporting these details.

1. OA is ramping up nicely and doing well. I asked about Bell South, and she said that the connection to Bell South is through Marconi (sp?). They hope to install 300,000 FTTC by the end of this year. I asked about next year, and she thought double that, but they are conservative in their estimates.

2. I asked about the Optical Access IPO, etc. I told her that we knew that Noam stated that they were just exploring their options, etc. but also said that they had hired an investment banker to look into it. I asked if the investment banker was a large reputable firm, or not. She said that the firm would be considered "Tier 1". I have to believe that that should bear well if MRVC decides to IPO Optical Access.

3. Diana also mentioned that MRVC is looking for other users for their product that Marconi is selling to Bell South.

4. I asked when we might hear news about OA and she couldn't tell me, but said 3-6 months might be possible. She did not list a particular time frame.

5. She said that the start-ups are "on target"

6. She said MRVC plans to have a small profit this quarter, but that EPS will be low for awhile. No news here.

7. I asked about the Linux router. She said that they were beta testing in 4th quarter and could ship in 1st quarter. I told her that an advertisement in Internet Week from May 10th said that the Linux router would be available in the 3rd quarter. She said that Nbase-Xyplex had to push that back, and that a "scaled down" box would be available 1st quarter. I think this news falls under the question of execution that the threads have been talking about for some time. I conveyed to Diana, to tell Noam, that rather than announcing a new division every other week, that they may want to focus on getting announced products out the door.

8. Diana said that they were trying to be aggressive with the Red-X product. I told her that the announcement said the product would be available in the 4th quarter. I then asked her if that meant October, or later in the fourth quarter. She said she was not sure, but that they were looking for potential customers for BETA-TESTING the Red-X product. I asked her this. " If a product is goiung to be available next quarter, shouldn't it be in beta testing this quarter?" She just said that they were looking for potential customers to Beta test the Red-X product.

Over all, it sounds like OA is flying, and is ramping up with excellent sales. It looks like Linux router is delayed. Who knows about Red-X?

I told Diana that rather than appointing more directors with technical expertise, they might want to look to someone with more marketing savvy.
