This chip will be the next revolution. Realize that QCOM actually delivers on its chipsets, on time and in volume. The MSM3100 allows absolutely tiny footprints for phones. Imagine the ThinPhone cut in half. Standby times are 300 hours. This is with an 800mAH battery. To put this in perspective, if we were to slap on the 1500mAH behemoth that Nokia uses on its cutting edge 6185, we could have standbys approaching 600 hours. Add in USB connectivity, voice control, GPS, data rates up to 86K and you have something spectacular. I do not see how MOT and NOK can continue along the path they have chosen with such inferior ASICs. The 6185 has been a quality nightmare for Nokia. Recalls, customer complaints, poor performance plague this much promoted phone. When will they cave? The well hyped superiority of GSM models has vanished. The CDMA players are swarming. This is very very good.
