The vBNS user was quite emphatic about this, too. Although, while discounting the need for "real" ATM in the future, he did liken the IP MPLS flows, in this case, to virtual circuits (VCs) in the ATM realm. When you think about it, MPLS is an almost identical Layer 2 scheme to that of ATM. The 12000, I believe, will do very much the same thing in order to shunt large flows from one unit to the other across clouds.

Before I lose sight of this, I should remind that these are the views as expressed by a user, not necessarily those of JNPR's... although my sense is that they are not far apart.
