Any idea where & when the transition occurred? From a monkey like creature? about 7 million years ago, from a creature more like today's chimpanzees, about 3 million years ago. From our previous ancestor homo erectus, about 1 million years ago. Is this the " Blind Watchmaker " at Work? People talk, ideas are exchanged, Some are usefull, or pretty or otherwise attractive to the listener, so they are remembered and told to another. Then it happens again. Some are new ideas and new discoveries and some are the old chestnuts told and retold to delighted children, and their children, and their children, and on for 50000 generations when it is finally written down.
