Slow is good, gives you a chance to plan what goes where and what next. Do you know how to back a trailer? The steering is opposite of when you are backing without one.

How long do you have left where you're living now?

I did exactly the same thing last month but with a larger truck. Packed ourselves just like it sounds like you are doing. One piece of advice I have is - go hire yourself a couple of Mexicans - young ones. At least one who speaks a little English.

Mid-afternoon Saturday a month back: We had the truck almost loaded, were already getting good and tired, and realized it'd take even longer to unload since we'd be carrying most of our stuff upstairs in our new house. We might get done around 11 PM or 12 and we'd likely be feeling dead by then. So I jumped in the car and headed for the Gulfton area and found a couple of young guys and boy, did having them to help make a big difference. One of the guys I hired to help out was 22 and while I'd plod up and down that ramp, he'd just hop up on it. Hey, when I was 22 I had that kind of energy - I think. It's hard to remember.

I see your note said your truck had a lift-gate. Good, good.

Also watch out for the blind spot when backing up. I snapped off my new mail box post while trying to back into the driveway.

Moving sucks. Hope you can get some benefit out of this experience.
