I agree about moving into Jan calls with some caution as we may get a dip into mid 170s. However, I like the lower strikes. 160's are going for twice the price of the 200's. Half the possible leverage to be sure, but in a hold-till-expiry situation, one Jan 160 costing ~$3700 will outperform two Jan 200's costing ~1850 apiece up to an underlying QCOM stock price of 240, with much less risk. Of course, if you're quite sure about a $250+ share price, the high strikes could be the better play. JMHO

Voltaire: Glad to see you see Jan 00 calls as cool. Hope so since I bought Q Jan 2000 LEAPS calls toward the end of 1997 and now am about to have to sell/exercise. Along the way they picked up the LWIN dividend and the last Q split, so my contracts are for 200 Q and 25 LWIN. Done well. But need to act between now and Jan. The view from your porch must have a great deal to do with the pictures of the world inside your brain. I find your knowledge of what will happen based upon what the big boys are doing awesome. As a buy and hold person, I ordinarily couldn't care less what the Q will do tomorrow, next week or next month. But with the LEAPS I am forced to pay some attention. Therefore I will be watching your wisdom from the porch with great interest. You are performing a major service here. I, for one, thank you. Chaz
