Richard, Mad, et al,

One must realise that these hot IPOs are hot
because the amount of stock available is limited.
Most of the stock created is held by the insiders
(who usually dump fat piles after the price has
gone up). You think you had trouble with RHAT?
Consider MP3. Most of that stock was distributed
to musicians and producers and stuff. Sort of like
"payola" for those who support the format. Anyway,
I know of someone who actually got 100 shares of
RHAT from E*trade even though he was just a modest
player (account worth about $4,000). He got lucky.
Don't blame E*trade. Its just the nature of this
bubble market. Of course, there are plenty of ".com"
IPOs comming. You can heap all the manure that these
marginal companies have to offer. I'll bet you that
70% of these .coms will be out of business in five
years or less.
