Quicken doesn't charge me anything. Only recently, it was Citibank that imposed a charge for using them via Quicken.

Hi Hockeyfan,

>>Is Quicken $12.95 per month? Does $12.95 include all fees including electronic bill pay?

I didn't make myself clear about the "Quicken/CKFR/local bank" combination. Quicken is locally resident software purchased at the software store for a one time fee of around $30. CKFR collects the $12.95/mo and includes more checks than I can write. I don't know the exact number, but you can check the CKFR web site. My checking is free so the local bank doesn't charge me a fee for check processing. The bottom line: I pay only $12.95/mo for bill pay. (If you're new to bill pay I wouldn't choose this option because CKFR seems to be getting out of the retail business. Best use the similar next option)

To muddy the waters further - there's a Quicken software/Quicken web site/CKFR/bank connection. In this combination the fee is collected by Quicken (Intuit).

From their web site:

How much does it cost?

You can try the Intuit (Quicken) Online Payment service for free for your first month.

Quicken users: Your free one month trial includes 20 payments. Additional sets of 5 payments will be billed at $2.49 per set. After your free trial, you will be charged $9.95 for up to 20 payments a month and $2.49 for each additional sets of five payments.

OK, how about another option - Checkfree's Web Bill Pay (mybills.com). Connect to the CKFR site via the web where you can receive bills and pay them. No ledger or reconciliation function, though.

And we haven't included Transpoint options here because, well, this is a CKFR thread. Wait until AOL and Lycos and Excite come out with their offerings. The consumers are going to go into analysis paralysis overload.

>>Does Quicken really help you with your taxes as much as they claim?

Ask me in April. I'm downloading my stock transactions from Datek to Quicken via OFX. At tax time I'll load the Quicken data into Turbotax and pray.
