JDN, according to the ad, you sit down at any Sun Ray Appliance. You log on with a pass word or a smart card. You do your work. When you are finished, you remove the card.

The soft ware the Sun Ray runs doesn't matter. You could run Star Office, mainframe, mini-computer Windows, Solaris and Java Based Applications, or rich multi-media. (I wonder what rich multi-media means)

Everything runs on one server that uses SOLARIS which is a secure and stable Operating System.

When you want begin work again at another site, for instance, all you have to do is: reinsert your card.

If you get a chance, look at the picture on P.70 of today's NY TIMES.

JDN, when they talk about using mainframe, mini computers and Windows, they mean your company's legacy applications.

I don't understand a legacy application. So when they mention Windows, I don't know if that means MSFT Windows.

I think you would need some sort of high speed connection, T1, ADSL or something as all the processing is done on the server - was this ad aimed at individual users or corporations?
