Teklogix and Spectralink announce voice over IP technology alliance

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - Teklogix International Inc., a leading
developer and marketer of wireless communication systems for supply-chain
management, and SpectraLink Corporation (NASDQ: SLNK), a leading supplier of
wireless telephone systems for the workplace, have entered into a technology
alliance. Under the terms of the agreement, Teklogix's 802.11-compliant
wireless LAN infrastructure will support SpectraLink's NetLink Wireless
Telephone System(TM) (NetLink WTS), resulting in a single wireless network
that supports both voice and data devices.
Teklogix provides wireless data communication networks that operate in
real-time, allowing mobile computer users to remotely collect and transmit
transaction data, access and update databases, and receive host computer
instructions that continually direct their work activities. The integration of
the NetLink WTS into Teklogix's wireless LAN infrastructure provides Teklogix
users with a complete wireless voice and data solution, allowing on-premises
mobile workers to make and receive telephone calls anywhere within the work
facility over a shared wireless infrastructure.
Teklogix's will incorporate SpectraLink Voice Priority(TM) (SVP)
technology into its wireless LAN access points to deliver high-quality voice
communication over the wireless network. SVP mitigates voice latency problems
associated with competing wireless LAN telephony solutions by prioritizing IP
voice packets without causing network delays.
In speaking of the technology partnership, Mike Cronin, Vice President of
Sales and Marketing for SpectraLink, said, ``Teklogix has an impressive
offering of wireless data solutions across a variety of industries. With the
NetLink WTS in its technology portfolio, Teklogix is helping its customers
leverage their wireless LAN investment with high-quality wireless voice
communication capabilities.'
Said Bruce Brown, Vice President, Marketing of Teklogix, ``We are very
excited about adding the NetLink WTS to our 802.11-compatible wireless LAN
technology offering. Combining Spectralink's technology with the unique, dual
radio capabilities of our 9150 Wireless Gateway, we can assure voice quality
without affecting the mission-critical data on the Teklogix system.'
The NetLink Wireless Telephone System combines Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and
wireless LAN technologies, and is the industry's first IEEE 802.11-compliant
workplace wireless telephone system to deliver outstanding voice quality,
desktop telephone features, and durable handset design.
