Dingell blasts FCC on NextWave license
deal

WASHINGTON?Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), ranking minority
member of the House Commerce Committee, blasted the Federal
Communications Commission for working with the Justice Department on
a deal to sell NextWave Telecom Inc.?s 95 wireless licenses to Nextel
Communications Inc. for $2.1 billion.

Dingell is the latest in a string of lawmakers to criticize the FCC for
meddling in NextWave?s bankruptcy reorganization.

??It is unprecedented ... that the commission would not only take sides in a
hostile takeover effort, but act as an organizer of such an effort, aiding and
abetting one company in an effort to acquire another company,?? stated
Dingell in the Sept. 20 letter.
