Applied Materials Donates $100,000 to Aid Taiwan Earthquake Victims
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1999--Applied Materials, Inc. announced today that it will contribute $100,000 to assist victims of the earthquake that hit Taiwan on Tuesday.
The donation will be made to the Red Cross on behalf of the company and its employees.

'Applied Materials is making this donation to help ensure the success of emergency relief efforts now under way in Taiwan,' said Applied Materials President Dan Maydan. 'As a company with close ties to and a decade of customer service in Taiwan, we believe it is very important to help Taiwan's people get back on their feet as quickly as possible. We hope other companies will respond in the same manner in providing much-needed assistance.'

Applied Materials Taiwan (AMT) employs 600 people at three sites, in Hsin-Chu, Nan-Kan and Tainan. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries to employees or significant damage to AMT facilities.
