JQP, You are onto something Grasshopper. I'll repeat a statistic. On an average day North America comsumes 55bcf of natural gas. On a high usage day North America consumes 100bcf of natural gas. Now divide current storage capacity into those two numbers.... There has been some modest "de-bottlenecking"; of storage facilities but monitoring the Oil & Gas Reporter in 1999 I have not seen mention of any major NG storage projects in North Amercia. A couple of small LNG terminals have reopended though, in South Carolina, and Lake Charles, Louisiana...
