Wednesday September 22, 5:13 pm Eastern Time Mexico's Satmex initiates Brazil operations MEXICO CITY, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Mexican satellite operator Satelites Mexicanos (Satmex) said on Wednesday that it was initiating operations in Brazil. ''Satmex will put its services at the disposal of different businesses, through its legal representative in Brazil, Loral Skynet do Brasil, Ltda.,'' the company said in a news release. Satmex was privatized in 1997 with U.S. company Loral Space and Communications (NYSE:LOR - news) and Mexico's privately held Principia taking a joint 75 percent stake and the Mexican government keeping the other 25 percent. The company will use its Solidaridad 1, Solidaridad 2 and Satmex 5 satellites to provide service in Brazil. Satmex said it received in August authorization to operate in Brazil.
