Ike, i'm also considering to add some far otom puts as soon as we bounce again...but the october cycle is too short for me. i'd consider december and january. i used to trade low-priced options in big lots as you can sometimes get an easy 100% profit when demand for a certain class of options is very high (e.g. OEX puts during the last april expiration cycle...i made quite a few trades that time buying at 1/16 or 1/8 and selling a teeny higher). but it only works well in the right circumstances and you have to buy lots of contracts to make it worth your while. of course a BK would produce a big profit on the DJX 90 puts...i wonder sometimes at the people selling those puts. the risk/reward seems out of kilter in terms of the ever-present systemic risk.
