johnd, I don't disagree with your technical analysis. However, other companies like Sunw keep going up and trade at higher and higher PEs. There are lots of companies whose PEs keep rising in the tech sector. I think MSFT has been a laggard in this sense. Therefore, it either has a good downside support or is poised for a breakout past 100. I am betting that in a downturn it will hold 90 but the more likely scenario is that the stock goes up much higher.

Remember all the negativitity from the DOJ case is already priced into the stock (that is why it has lagged). Only a hint of positive comments from Jackson is all that is need for this thing to rocket.

Of course there are other developments that could make MSFT soar; release of Windows2000 and all the related hype; internet strategies; earnings surprises etc.

john, you make a lot sense and are correct on this stock most of the time. But Yahoo/ zacks estimates call for only 5.25% y over y erning growth in the stock and additonally only 12.5% for jun00.

How can these analysts be guided down so much and so off compare to
what you say re 30-40% range. Given that they get their "lowered estimates from Bill Gates & co. "
Or do u think following estimates are typos and you have another source for esitmates that reflect 40% erning growth ??
