With data coming in at 250 MB sec..it has to go some where and it has to be processed into graphs etc. This takes CPU power. I think a PII 400 can keep up with a 56k modem data feed but dealing with a 250 MB/sec stream of data requires significant processing power.

This statement looks awful suspicious. The original poster used a small b and I believe she meant 250 megabits per second. You used a large B which usually means 250 megabytes per second. Besides this 250 megabits per second sounds awful fast for the speed of a cable modem and a real time data provide. I think cable modem speeds are more like 2.5 megabits per second and based on other posts I have read on Silicon Investor the maximum speed of the data provider is a lot closer to 100 kilobits per second than it is to 250 megabits per second. Conclusion we need to verify the speed of the cable modem and the data provider before making any recommendations.
