ole 49r, its been awhile since you tried to clean Bill of his health,
so rather than dig up unanswered questions it would be better if you
in your sparkling uproarious way of posting, to start with a clean
white sheet of monitor tube and type in fresh asciis for us all to
read and ponder and be entertained in a learned way.

(off topic)

Jack Smith + Chucalphabetnoodlesoup + CL_the_only = ole 49r

as in, put these 3 men into a blender and output is a ole 49r

but if the consistency is too watery, add a Grey Stone or 2

and for extra firmness with no law violations, add a touch of a zeev

doug

I lost all my old bookmarks when the Packard Bell died, so I'll have to dig(pun intended) for some of the links I've lost. The "pay for pan" is open only in summer & more tourist oriented, as for the black sand, they don't give it to you, you have to go pan out your own from Clear Creek.

Think your geography is off a bit, (Unless you were talking about a different area & I didn't get it) Cripple Creek is above Colorado Springs of Hwy 24, not on southwest corner of state. I'll ask some questions & see if some panning operations there are any looking to sell parts of their businesses.

OT OT OT OT

Ole49'r, I've spent time in the Cripple Creek/Victor area, and your mention of it raised a question in my mind.

As that was/is primarilly a silver mining area, would that even be the area you were talking about?

Also, the area is barren, windy and cold at any given time of the year. The altitude is over 9,000 feet, and while it did Lowell Thomas good, that is 18 degrees F off the temperature at any given time.

Not what I would consider a hospitable area to move to, though I enjoyed visiting it. I haven't been back since gambling started, I expect Cripple Creek is a little more exciting these days.

Too, there is little or no surface water there...all mines are DEEEEP, one going down 25,000 feet, as I recall. Your gold pan would not see much use there.

It's an interesting place, but largely dead. Do you really want to go there? About 45 miles due west of Colorado Springs, an easy drive by rental.

Be careful going through the railroad tunnel, though! <g>

Cheers!
Rick
