good analysis. I hadn't really thought about it but what you say makes sense.

CPQ's web business is driven almost entirely by superior systems design support, not hardware per se. They developed an architecture called DISA which played well in the low end space, both with Linux / Apache and NT based systems. On the high end the Alpha systems have more sophisticated cluster and load management capabilities. I think CPQ is already way ahead in the technology side of this. I don't know how they plan to continue that work but I would bet it is getting a lot of attention. I'll have to dig around.

I have mostly been goofing off this summer and have not talked much with CPQ people - have not actually been in Houston more than a few days since late May.
