I think....not.

I understand your desire, and your rationale, but I think it would wreak too much havoc in a variety of ways. I agree with those who say that it opens up potential for significant abuse. Also, it would complicate our search indexes (I think RTev pointed this out).

Besides, you can always post a "retraction".

My biggest fear is that it would provide an opportunity for spammers to exploit. If we supported such a feature, some clever spammer out there could probably figure out a way to automate the whole thing, deleting his/her tracks along the way. Those darn spammers are hard enough to hunt down as it is. :)

Of course, I remain open to additional suggestions, and I hope we can keep these kinds of discussion active on the site.
