Thank goodness I don't actually live in a city, nor work in an office tower. I live in a suburb, with 1/3 acre yard, and work in an office townhouse in the town of Fairfax. I even have a window in my office, and trees outside my office window.

However, the population in Fairfax County is over 900,000, and that's at night. In the morning, the hordes of travellers on their way to work in D.C. or the inlying suburbs stream through, although stream isn't exactly the right word, roar through is more like it, except when the traffic gets too heavy, then they creep. In the middle of the day, and at night, the enormous roads are empty, and to me they are beautiful. Green trees form parkland along the routes I travel, and in fact, the population density isn't very high. The county is enormous, and at least 1/3 of it is zoned for 5 acre lots. But it's nothing like where you and Gaugie live, nor even Rambi.
