Richard, yes I noted the apparent departure of hawkeye from the BB.com discussion. We can only hope that in the wake of this most unfortunate event that while nobody can exceed hawkeye for his insight and brilliance that perhaps by some miracle it won't be too long before as luck might have it someone who is able to come close to these enviable qualities might appear some day in the not too distant future. While there are other respected posters there like Rande and others it's funny, to paraphrase LLoyd Bentson in his debate with Dan Quayle I feel like I knew hawkeye. Sometimes from weekend postings and perhaps other weekend interactions I almost felt at times that hawkeye was in some ways a friend of mine. Unfortunately Rande and others are no hawkeye

Richard: Ah, so long hawkeye! We will miss you. But I am a firm believer in reincarnation <g>.

Interesting goings-on at the Brinker web site

There is little doubt in my mind that "Hawkeye" is an alias of the very famous and widely admired, Gordon Lightfoot. If you study is posts and compare them to the wording and expressions of say, Canadian Railroad Trilogy or even the hauntingly beautiful Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the similarities are striking. Not convinced?

I rest my case:

If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see
