This latest non-event is so pathetic, I can't even bear to think about it. There are five other competitors in the market for a population of about 3 million people (+/- a few hundred thousand). How much revenue can one expect from this venture? Margins will probably be wafer thin as the competition heats up. The best we can hope for is that some greater fool warms up to the story and we get a decent pop to exit this dog :(

IMHO, Sim is grasping at straws here, desperately trying anything to plug the holes in his sinking (or should I say, stinking) ship.

I wonder how much impact the earthquake and resulting downtime in Taiwan will have on Creative.

Creative is Singapore-based, and presumably has a lot of manufacturing in Singapore and other countries outside of Taiwan, but since Taiwan is the dominant supplier of a wide range of components and services, there is bound to be some impact on Creative, especially considering Creative's broad product line.

For starters, there must be some impact on graphics since NVIDIA (Creative's graphics chip supplier) is highly dependent on TSMC. This may limit the ramp of the new GeForce product, for example.

More critically, soundcards also use a wide range of components. Are Creative's chips fabbed in Singapore? What about the lower end Ensoniq-family chips? Has Creative suffered any major component shortages before for components other than chips?

Other products such as DVD cards and, perhaps, speakers (digital speakers must have a chip, right?) may also be affected if they use a chip manufactured at TSMC or UMC.

I'd hate to see Creative's relatively strong demand outlook being ruined by supply issues.
