Unq, Jill, Teflon and Softie watchers.......FYI

Read my issue of the Gilder Technology Report this week.
Gilder points out that SUN plans to market StarOffice, a suite of network-ready Office applications, taking advantage of Java. StarOffice is apparently compatible with MS Office file formats. By offering this (for free) via AOL CD marketing and over the net, and with automatic updates with which the end user doesn't have to fuss with, this will ideally reduce IT maintenance time, and be bug-free. According to Gilder, "this is it folks, the Java consummation that many of us have been waiting for. Microsoft will never be the same again".

Full disclaimer...I have no position in MSFT

Unq, Thread (those invested in or watching QCOM),

This quote from the Old New Qualcomm thread (# 1862) is pretty darned good (IMHO) so I thought I should share:

"the world had been frozen with analog services for a long time and the digital revolution that has taken place over the last 3-5 years and for the next 10 years has been a long time in coming. QC was perfectly postioned with the right product at the right time when this explosion took place, made the exact right technology choices ( which is what IMJ and Dr. V are absolutely the worlds BEST at), and then executed this."

So sayeth engineer.

The statement and the excellent post are placed somewhat in the context of "The Innovator's Dilemma", (which I have not read, but which is in the same Amazon shipment as the Revised Manual due any moment), I gather.

Thanks for the quote, Eric. With respect to our conversation on the Cisco thread, we have definitely cataloged Q as a Gorilla. We came to that conclusion months ago, and everything that's happened since has been confirmation of our belief. Even the Master, Sir Geoffrey, conceded them Gorillahood on his newsgroup.
