Switching to Contact Lenses May Improve Your Love Life - Survey Shows Contact Lens Wearers Enjoy Better Relationships, Have Boosted Self-Confidence, And Feel More Romantic - NEW YORK, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Contact lenses may be the aphrodisiac of the new millennium. According to a new national survey released today, switching to contact lenses from eyeglasses may help people feel sexier. In fact, 56% of contact lens wearers surveyed said their intimate relationships have improved since they started wearing contact lenses. The survey also found that simply wearing contact lenses is enough to make people feel lucky. More than half (61%) of all contact lens and eyeglass wearers surveyed said they thought wearing contact lenses instead of eyeglasses could increase their chances of good things happening to them. Eye care companies are responding to the demand for contact lenses. Vistakon recently introduced its state-of-the-art ACUVUE 2 lens, which is designed for maximum comfort and ease of use -- and, it seems, sex appeal. The survey, which polled more than 1,000 men and women in the United States, revealed that more than half of all contact lens wearers feel more attractive and self-confident than they did when they wore eyeglasses. 49% feel more romantic in their contact lenses. The lure of contact lenses seems to be irresistible: nearly half (45%) of all contact lens wearers polled said they have been asked out on dates since they started wearing contact lenses. In addition to making them feel more attractive and bolstering their romances, 95% of contact lens wearers and 79% of eyeglass wearers surveyed said that contact lenses improve -- or could improve -- their abilities to perform other activities. Specifically, 78% of contact lens wearers and 55% of eyeglass wearers said they play, or would expect to play, sports better with contact lenses than with eyeglasses. Slip into something more comfortable According to the survey, 50% of former contact lens wearers haven't used contact lenses for at least 10 years. In that time, tremendous strides have been made in comfort, vision correction and ease of handling -- several areas identified for improvement by users of lenses past. Vistakon's ACUVUE 2 is a new, technologically advanced soft contact lens that is easy to use and comfortable enough for almost anyone to wear, including many people who thought they couldn't wear contact lenses. About the survey The telephone survey, which was sponsored by Vistakon, polled Americans age 18 and older and included people who wear either contact lenses or eyeglasses, as well as those who do not use any form of vision correction. It was conducted by Roper Starch Worldwide in July 1999, and has a sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points. ACUVUE is a registered trademark of Johnson & Johnson Vision Products, Inc.
