Yes it clearly is not a problem.
You could even go 64 bits wide.

The determinimg factor with memories has been low cost packaging so the have avoided high pin count packages.

But 100 pqfps cost $0.50-0.60 so its should be a no-brainer.

And yes slew rate limiting helps as well as folks are even integrating series R in the I/O pads.
