Ramsey Su,
I hope you are wrong about your sale speculation, but nothing is impossible. I have often wonder why Lucent or Nortel did not buy Qcom years ago.

Selling out? When "the fun is just beginning"? I think these are really exciting days for wireless communication in general and QCOM in particular.

Don't forget, Irwin retired before and disliked it. I'm sure he knows that interesting work keeps one young-- which is why I don't see him leaving anytime soon. Comments?

ps- the AP release on the LU-QCOM deal said QCOM was a San Francisco-based company with $108 in revenue for 1998. I think Irwin wants to make QCOM such an accomplished achievement that such mistakes would be impossible in the future -just an opinion.

---Ramsey Su: Thornley has proven to be pretty sharp with his pencils but is an acct type suitable for a high tech CEO position?---

Ramsey, I guess it depends on the accountant. Remember, Bernard Schwartz of Loral is (or was) an accountant, and he turned out to be OK.
