If such a Yeltsin-Lebed deal was proposed, Lebed made it clear yesterday that he has no intention of returning to the government.

Bear in mind that Moscow is full of rumors & theories. Not one of them can be proved or disproved. In my considered opinion, none of them will ever be. Furthermore, I doubt whether the real perpetrators of the terrorist bombings will ever be found (although some scapegoats may be).

Think about it for a minute. Think of all the notorious murders in recent years of prominent Russians, from the TV journalist Listyev to the parliamentary deputy Galina Starovoitova. The police are no closer to "solving" those murders than they ever were. Yet within a couple of days they have determined that "Chechens" are responsible for the terrorist bombings, and even claim to have detained some of the perpetrators? Gimme a break...

"Why of course the people don't want war.Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when
the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people don't want war:
neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the
leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether
it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the
people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are
being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."

Hermann Goering, Nazi leader, at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II

If so, what is Yeltsin waiting for?? It's now almost TWO weeks ago when these buildings got blown up in
Moscow --yet, NO state of emergency and NO cancelling ""

Since I don't belong to the Yeltsin's Inner Circle, I can't tell exactly when, but if you be patient, you will see the
land invasion of Chechnya soon, sooner than you think!
