Forget products 13243 of 13243
by: Zenkaku

Spyglass has been publicly emphasizing that it is becoming a "solutions" company. In this case solutions is just another word for professional services.

Spyglass is not the product company it used to be; the new ventures (Allpen, GI lab, Navitel) are mostly services whereas product R&D has been cut and now the Surfwatch unit has been sold.

I guess some investors still fantasize about the return of old Spyglass with high license revenues. But those days may be gone, it is hard to maintain high product revenues
without investing in R&D.

Web technology ages so fast that a big effort is required to stay up-to-date and an even bigger effort is required to introduce new bleeding-edge technology. I believe Spyglass
has demonstrated in words and in deeds that it doesn't really want to take up a big R&D effort any more.
