They may be simply building the infrastructure to attract the eyeballs. Without those distribution centers, which keep
customers happy with quick shipments, they could potentially lose some of their 10 million customers, or just stall
growth.

Like the AOL model, the distribution may just be the breakeven part, with a 90%+ margin product providing the profits.

I can't say I really have a clue. The market proved me wrong when I was short. AMZN was weak when I was long. I have decided to not play AMZN and just watch it. I will stay with YHOO when a buying opportunity comes back, PCLN, EBAY, etc. I can't play AMZN correctly and there are many other opportunities.

Time will eventually show us how AMZN makes out.
