RobertBarry:"But, parents have to trust the system to teach "what is right" for their children."

True. The best way to do that is to subject The Public School to

The discipline of the Market place

by

allowing parents to choose any school they want

to put their children in.

Thus the public school will be forced to become more accountable.
They will tend to teach what works and not what doesn't.

They will look harder at " well what is right? to teach?"

Fluffy ideas I think will fall off.

Their College entrance numbers should be made public.

Parents ultimately have to decide based on all the above public knowledge decide if the school is right for their children or not.

If a school teaches creationism without evolution perhaps not too many people
will put their kids there--> teachers will be laid off--> they may rethink the curriculum
and insert evolution.

I believe that the Market Place is a great forger of what is right and what isn't.

I believe that ideas similarly should be tested in the free market.

A good idea ? religion will survive. A bad idea want.

The market in a sense then will define good or bad.

Many folks don't like the discipline of the market but you can't have it both ways.

you can't have freedom of speech and thought and action
and
a monopoly of that by anybody, Church or State alike.

ALL monopolies are bad

Repeat after me:

ALL monopolies are bad

ALL monopolies are bad

ALL monopolies are bad

<< ... all sides think their side is important: that is why I say live and let live. >>

I agree. The study of religions, myths and evolution should definitely be taught in schools.

<< Let parents decide what is right for their children. >>

But, parents have to trust the system to teach "what is right" for their children.
