Yes, you are right, there are several reasons. But I've always seen "large memory" listed near the top. Close by is RAS. Also near top is dram cost since servers use so much dram. I'm not sure about the gaps in Intel's server chipset roadmap and defer to you on that.

There is a way that I can see Rambus getting back into servers. That is with the Alpha 21364 which uses four Rambus channels per CPU in a massively parallel grid of processors. Maybe we could talk about that sometime. (But don't tell Unclewest, he'd go wild!)
