Well I think it is a matter of perspective. Surely from a dedicated Republican's perspective Buchanan will appear a spoiler. But looking at it as a populist, he does the logical thing in bolting the GOP in search of a more effective platform from which to shout his message.

Of course GW is not the enemy. But Buchanan likely thinks he and his views will ever remain stepchildren within GOP politics, and I think he is absolutely correct. He wants to change his allegiances, perchance to find himself top dog in some other junkyard. It makes good sense, though his going to the Reform Party is patently ridiculous.
