Greg, Thanks for the response. I thought I read somewhere that a 133mhz processor running on Linux could perform tasks as fast as a Pentium 3 running on Windows. I gather this is not your experience. I never intended to imply that MRV routers were using Red Hat software. I was just citing that as an example of the increasing use of Linux. A couple of weeks ago (at least), I ordered the Gaskins report on Linux. It was originally promised to be delivered on Sept. 10. I E-mailed him yesterday asking where it was and got the following reply. I thought you guys might be interested in knowing what was going to be in it. It costs $199. BobWe hope to finish it over the weekend. I contracted a lot of work out the the folks at Bynari.com because they are from the industry, and am looking for their final input over the weekend.
