Kemble, with all the bears posts I thought I would share some bearish information.

Grizzlies are more dangerous than Black Bears. One should not be confident once a Black Bear has been identified that the bear isn't dangerous.

In general, in Grizzly country it is recommended to wear bells on your shoes or clothing to not surprise the grizzly and to carry pepper spray in case of attack.

Black Bears are far more numerous and most travellers don't carry bells or pepper spray.

So the question becomes how to tell Grizzly scat from Black Bear scat?

Grizzly scat sounds like bells when you shake it and smells like pepper.
