>>Ticks me off how the last price, if there were multiple trades at the same time, is (I assume this is required by regs) always the lowest. Just now there were three trades: 1000 at 2.25, 900 at 2.20 and 100 at 2.15. So last price drops from 2.30 to 2.15 on the basis of 100 shares.<<

Funny you mention that. I have been watching it happen all week. These trades have been close together, but not at the same time. My suspicion is that someone has been wanting this lower and they have been picking up cheaper shares as a result.

I have another stock where this is occurring, and I have been led to believe that a firm (who wants to take a stake in the company) has been working to drop their share price so that they can get a better deal and pick up shares at a discount.

Also, what a heck of a day overall. 4th worst day in NASDAQ's history.

Actually, from what you described, someone dumped (sold) 2000 shares @ market. The result is that someone was willing to buy 1000 @ 2.30, another was willing to buy 900 @ 2.20, and the rest had to be sold @ market, that being 2.15.

It stinks for the share price when someone dumps their shares @ market, especially on the low volume we are experiencing. But, such is life, it could have worked the other way as well, just no-one is buying @ market right now.
