I agree with Susan, we all knew we were on thin ice, we were closing positions after profits, I was feeling it daily, but the 'enfolding' today reminded me of the last episode of the season when they leave you on a 'cliffhanger' so you will tune in after the summer and not forget the show. Pure drama..just a ratings game. There were a few positions I would like to have held.

Manual, Tonight the .pdf edition of the revised Manual will be ready, I'd still suggest you don't print it just read. By the weekend I'll have it better looking but it will be on the site later tonight. Now I'm getting some rest, it was actually an okay day but I think I might need a support group for CMRC-addicts.. Tomorrow it's be a showdown, either I cover in the morning and go long or wait and sqeeze out another 5-10 points short.

If you are going to lose your savings and homes cause of this or get margin calls then it probably is time to reconsider your trading/investing judgement.

I thought that trading/investing was to be done with money you can afford to lose.....that is what I always heard. I have never heard it wise to put so many things in jeopardy (home?!!) on one person's opinion (no matter who it is) on one day or market fall...and no one is making one stay in the stock unless there is some stock super glue I am not aware of....then that is the "cliff" one is on and it is of one's own making .....

Susan, about your comments:
<<we were on the edge of the cliff. But I think he should have thought about all the people who will get margin calls and may lose there savings and homes. I think it was totally IRRESPONSIBLE.
_________
It was a bit irresponsible, in that the incomes of employees of these high-tech firms consist heavily stock options. I can't imagine the MSFT employees being too happy with their boss. But again, his comments didn't tank the market. It was coming. You'd have to be blind not to see it.

susan, balmer didn't tank the market or PHCM or CMRC, tulipmania did
he wouldn't have gotten the credit if it went in the other direction

ynot ;)

I really don't think Balmer did the scaring... we really don't know the context of the questions as framed and how the answers were cut and culled.

This sell off is too well orchestrated and the dumped buttons were hit at the same time... the institutions work too well together that it should be against the law (it is... but no one can ever prove collusion). :))

If I were a suspicious woman, I would wonder at his timing and agenda (hidden?) but then, that's if I were a suspicious woman.

You are right in the sense that many people will get hurt due to
market downdraft but he (Steve B.,the Microsoft 's president)
made an honest and correct statement ,i.e tech stocks are overvalued
in general,the likes of MSFT,BRCD,JNPR,RBAK,ICGE,CMRC,ARBA,HLIT,VTSS,etc.
I will wait for a few more days then load up on some beaten up ones
(not those in the list above) .For now, shorting stocks is a better
strategy,IMHO.
